about

John The Frank is a live musician, DJ, and audio & music producer from Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Music has always been an integral part of his life. Throughout his career he was part of many different music projects, each with a distinct genre and character. Early in his career, he was part of the Afrikaans Alternative Rock band called Om Te Skryf. He then pursued music full time, completed his Grade 8 in Classical Singing, coached, wrote and arranged award winning songs/medleys for Pieke Mans Sêr at the Stellenbosch University Sêr (acapella singing) competitions, and built his career as professional music producer, DJ and live entertainer. In 2020 he was the musical director of the celebrated "Hallo, My Naam Is Johnny Cash!" at the Toyota US Woordfees.

During the pandemic, John utilised the downtime in the wedding industry to improve his skills in professional audio production for video, broadcast, and music. He focused on mastering industry-standard software and hardware, learning new techniques and best practices. As a result, he has become proficient in producing high-quality audio that meets the demands of different types of media.

This newfound expertise has paved the way for himself to be the recording and mixing engineer for “Drie Digters in Konsert” with Koos van der Merwe, Danie Du Toit and Frieda van den Heever which aired on Woordfees TV. He also became a vocal coach and music producer for Agri's Got Talent, a singing competition for agricultural workers in South Africa. Through his yearly involvement with this initiative, he is able to encourage and uplift aspiring singers.

In his spare time John loves to watch sport, browse the web searching for hidden gems in the music industry, read, drink and appreciate wine, and spend time with his wife and their two daughters.
